By tradition, the first plenary session of the new convocation of the State Duma is opened by the oldest deputy. In the eighth convocation, Valentina Vladimirovna Tereshkova became it.
During the meeting, Vyacheslav Volodin and his deputies were elected chairman of the chamber of parliament.
One of the first items on the agenda of the meeting was the introduction of amendments to the Duma regulations, the amendments provide for the creation of 32 committees and three commissions. Thus, in the new convocation six committees will work more than in the State Duma of the seventh convocation, which consisted of 26 committees. The chairmen of the committees were also elected.
There is a lot of work ahead!
