Alexey Chepa proposed to exchange an American spy for two Russian citizens

The exchange of American citizen Paul Whelan for Russians Viktor Bout or Konstantin Yaroshenko may be of interest to the Russian side, said Alexei Chepa, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs.

At the moment, Russian citizens Viktor Bout or Konstantin Yaroshenko are being held in custody in America.

At the same time, according to the parliamentarian, it will be fair to exchange both Russians for one Paul Whelan.

“Such an exchange can be made. Naturally, we will always be interested in this exchange, because for us the fate and life of our citizens is the first priority, ”emphasized Aleksey Chepa.

On June 15, the Moscow City Court sentenced American spy Paul Whelan to 16 years in a maximum security penal colony, RIA Novosti reported. At the same time, the American’s lawyers assured that the man was framed and he was not to blame for anything.

In turn, Alexey Chepa stressed that the court passed a fair sentence and there could be no inaccuracies in the investigation.
