Anton Morozov, a member of the State Duma’s international affairs committee, commented on the statement of Germany’s permanent representative to the UN about Russia’s invasion of southeast Ukraine: “There is no evidence to prove the presence of regular Russian armed forces in Ukraine or in the Donbass in nature. What they are trying to give out as a fact is actually manipulation and fake. We can only sympathize with Christoph Heusgen, that he does not possess information and brings his leadership, making unreasonable irresponsible statements. ”
“I do not think that this will affect relations between Russia and Germany,” added a member of the Committee.
Anton Morozov also commented on the report by the US Deputy Representative to the UN, Jonathan Koenan, to the UN Security Council meeting on the situation in Ukraine that the US intends to maintain anti-Russian sanctions until the Ukrainian authorities control the Donbass and Crimea, and “until Russia’s full implementation of the Minsk agreements. ”
“The US Deputy Representative to the UN misinterprets the Minsk agreements. Russia is not a party to these agreements, but is only a guarantor of their implementation, along with other countries – France and Germany, ”said Morozov.
“As for the lifting of sanctions on other grounds, regarding the control over the Donbas – for this, Ukraine needs to stop civil confrontation. Finally, we must understand that it is necessary to negotiate with the insurgent residents of Donbass, and not to destroy them with the help of military units, ”the Committee member concluded.
