Anton Morozov: the Caspian receives the status of a closed sea

At a plenary meeting on September 19, the State Duma ratified the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea. During the discussion of the document, member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, MP from the LDPR faction Anton Morozov noted the importance of accepting the closed status of the Caspian Sea.

“There will be no warships of foreign states that are not parties to the convention,” Anton Morozov explained.

According to the parliamentarian, such a practice in the future can be extended to the Black Sea.

The Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea confirms the peaceful use of the sea, establishes the regime of shipping and the collective use of the water area, and also establishes the basic principle of joint activities in the Caspian Sea – the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas.
