Anton Morozov: “Trump’s words about the Golan Heights may aggravate the conflict in the Middle East”

Statement by US President Donald Trump on the sovereignty of Israel over the Golan Heights could aggravate the conflict in the Middle East, which will subsequently lead to the complete destruction of the state. About this in an interview with “Duma TV” said a member of the Committee on International Affairs, a deputy from the LDPR faction Anton Morozov.

“This is a very provocative statement that can rekindle the conflict in the Middle East, especially it can harm Israel, because Israel has territorial problems with both Syria and Palestine,” he explained.

According to the parliamentarian, in order to normalize the situation in the region, it is necessary to “avoid sharp corners and not disturb the problematic issues that Israel has with its neighboring states, then there will be peace and tranquility.”

Anton Morozov also recalled the recent decision of Donald Trump to transfer the US Embassy to Jerusalem, which “caused great discontent from the Arab world.”

“If we continue this policy, we can set up the entire Arab world, including not only Iran, but also other states against Israel, which could ultimately lead to its complete destruction,” Morozov added.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that it was time for the United States to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan heights. The American leader wrote about this on his Twitter page. Later, the media reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu personally thanked Trump for this decision.
