Dmitry Novikov about Trump’s plans to increase fees from allies to the military: the United States is changing the rules of the game

The earlier compromise between the United States and its allies is currently changing its format to a great extent. About this in an interview with “Duma TV” said the first deputy chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, a deputy from the Communist Party faction Dmitry Novikov.

Earlier, The Washington Post reported that US President Donald Trump plans to increase the collection that Washington’s allies are paying for the US military to serve in their territory.

According to Novikov, the United States previously carried a significant share of the costs associated with military armament on the territory of NATO countries, since they transferred to Washington part of their sovereignty.

“Now Trump tells them something like this:“ Guys, you have to pay for everything. Either you yourself are more actively involved in military spending, increase your military budgets, bring them to certain parameters, or we will offer you to pay for it differently, ”the deputy explained.

“That is, Washington now believes that it should not pay for anyone’s security, that its influence is already large enough and will be provided by other means and other opportunities,” the parliamentarian added.

“Therefore, the compromise between the United States and its allies, which was achieved in the postwar period, is now changing its format to a large extent, and the United States proposes other rules of the game,” concluded Dmitry Novikov.
