Dmitry Novikov commented on the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia on “historically inaccurate” documents

First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs Dmitry Novikov commented on RT’s statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia that the documents on the liberation of Estonia from Nazi invaders by the Soviet Union are “historically inaccurate.”

“There are fundamental things, and there can only be one look. Fascism is an absolute evil, its main winner is the USSR and its Red Army. It was she who liberated Estonia and other republics of the Soviet Union, a number of countries in Eastern Europe. This is an indisputable fact, and there are all the necessary historical documents testifying to this, ”the deputy said.

According to Novikov, history has always been and “will long be an instrument for solving certain political problems.”

“The attempt to affirm the current Estonian statehood is carried out by politicians at the expense of the war with the past. They want to pretend that historically everything looked different. In addition, there is a need to declare allegiance to the Russophobic ideas that prevail today in the USA and the EU in various ways, ”he said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia was outraged by the publication of documents on the liberation of Estonia by the Soviet Union from Nazi invaders.

At the same time, the Russian embassy in Estonia responded to the publication by saying that “each side has its own view, but the truth can be one, and it is based on facts.”
