Changes to the constitution is nothing but Kiev’s attempts to justify its activities and create another illusion among citizens. This opinion was expressed to the Parliamentary newspaper by the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Dmitry Novikov.
Recall, the Ukrainian parliament, at the suggestion of President Poroshenko, finally approved the changes to the country’s constitution, which “fix the choice of Ukraine and its place as a member of the European family”, as well as the course towards integration into NATO. After that, the law will have to be signed by the head of state. The document will come into force on the next day of publication in the official press.
“The destruction of the USSR extremely painfully affected the lives of the population of Ukraine, and everything that happened after the 2014 coup diminished the situation of a huge mass of the population,” Novikov said. Last years, he recalls, the remnants of the once-developed economy of the country continued to collapse due to the political interests of the Ukrainian oligarchy. Under these conditions, attempts are being made by the authorities to justify their activities.
“Changes to the constitution are nothing more than an attempt by the authorities to create yet another illusion among people that a difficult period can be overcome and other blessed times will come,” the parliamentarian said.
According to the first deputy head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, all decisions that are being made in Kiev today lead to a split of society along two lines – social, when the poor become poorer and the oligarchs get richer, and along the lines of relations between Russians and Ukrainians.
“The course towards the“ European family ”and NATO is“ luring ”for some and an additional irritating factor for others who link the future of Ukraine itself with Russia,” Novikov said.
