The Ukrainian authorities’ approach to the Russian Sputnik V vaccine poses a real danger to the health of their citizens, Elena Panina, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that he would be against the use of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus in the country, even if its effectiveness is proven.
Panina recalled that until recently, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with an American newspaper “lamented” that he could not explain to Ukrainians why they should be deprived of the Russian vaccine if there are no vaccines from the West and will not be available in the near future.
“Now a subordinate of Zelensky, Mr. Kuleba, found such an explanation and said that Sputnik V is being made by people with a“ wrong ideology. ”However, it is unlikely to convince the inhabitants of Ukraine, including even those who are still under the influence of anti-Russian propaganda. in the end, the vaccine was created not by politicians and journalists, but by doctors who are guided by the Hippocratic oath and are outside politics, “Panina emphasized.
The MP noted a striking trend that today Ukraine is the only country in the world where questions about the vaccine are asked to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and not to doctors or health officials.
“This is just some kind of farce, this is a clear symptom of the fact that the Kiev authorities have completely lost their adequacy. It must be said frankly that with such an approach to the matter they pose a real danger to the health of their citizens, who are blocked from access to vital medical procedures,” added Panina.
The parliamentarian believes that the people of Ukraine “can only express sympathy”, since he is literally “doomed to the slaughter” to please the authorities’ desire to curry favor with the “Western curators.”
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal also stated that Ukraine cannot use the Russian vaccine against coronavirus, since it has not passed the third stage of clinical trials, and noted that now there is no talk of purchasing a Russian vaccine. Kuleba, for his part, called the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus Russia’s “hybrid weapon” against Ukraine.
