Former US President Donald Trump, who previously announced the unsuccessful results for the United States of the meeting of Presidents Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin, under pressure from the American establishment began to speak “like a provincial activist of the Republican Party,” Elena Panina, a member of the State Duma International Affairs Committee, told RIA Novosti (“United Russia”).
Trump said that Washington did not get anything from the summit with Russia, and for Moscow the meeting went well, he also stressed that the United States could not stop Nord Stream 2, which was important.
“In fact, Trump speaks not as a world-class politician, but as a provincial Republican activist whose outlook is limited to the problems of his state,” Panina said.
According to the deputy, Trump’s assessments are dictated by the American domestic political situation and have little to do with the real state of affairs.
“Five years ago, Trump showed himself as a responsible politician who showed a willingness to improve relations with Russia. However, it seems that under pressure from the establishment, he changed his public position,” Panina emphasized.
She also expressed regret that “now little is left of the bright politician who once promised to get along with Russia.”
