With one hand, the West is sending signals of hope to Lukashenka, leaving the illusion of an open corridor in the European direction, and with the other, it is actively destabilizing the situation in Belarus through Poland and Lithuania. Thus, State Duma deputy, member of the International Affairs Committee, director of the Institute of Russian Strategies Elena Panina commented on the statement of Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, who made it clear that his country, together with Poland, would continue to actively intervene in the situation in Belarus.
According to the politician, one should not be surprised at the sharp contrast of such statements with the conciliatory statements of Merkel and the officials of the European Commission, since such a “division of roles” is quite logical.
“Berlin and Brussels are doing everything possible so that Lukashenka does not return to the previous course in relations with Russia, and Warsaw and Vilnius turn into the rear bases of the opposition, the goal of which is to overthrow Lukashenka as soon as possible,” Panina stated.
We will remind, earlier the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda said that the neighboring countries of Belarus should be more active in support of changes in the republic, without waiting for EU decisions.
