State Duma deputies discussed with Iranian colleagues lawmaking in the field of family support, as well as the direction of social assistance to women, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the deputy chairman of the Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection Elena Serova.
A delegation of the lower house of parliament took part in the 63rd session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women.
“We held a meeting with the Iranian delegation on the fields, the talks were held in a constructive manner. We exchanged our experience and opinions on the kind of assistance, primarily social, to be given to women so that they can live and work in dignity in modern society, ”said Elena Serova.
“We shared our developments in the area of legislation, indicated that it was socially oriented, and this time the budget was adopted as socially oriented,” the parliamentarian added.
The deputy noted that the parliamentarians also discussed the prospects for cooperation and agreed that they would be in close contact.
The session is held in New York from March 11 to March 15. Among the deputies of the State Duma, the event was also attended by the head of the Committee on Family, Women and Children Tamara Pletneva and a member of the Committee on International Affairs Elena Strokova.
