Sergei Zheleznyak: “Dismantling the Open Skies Agreement that the US is facing will become another breach in the collective security system”

“The dismantling of the Open Skies Agreement, which the United States seems to be facing, will be another breach in the collective security system.” This opinion was expressed by a member of the State Duma committee on international affairs, Sergei Zheleznyak.

The politician emphasized: “Washington is obviously preparing a new provocation that will affect not only Russian-American relations, but also all countries. The US’s unilateral withdrawal from the Open Skies Agreement will turn the airspace from Alaska to the Kuril Islands into a zone of instability. It seems that the hotheads in Washington decided to untie their hands as much as possible and by refusing the Agreement, the United States intends to hide the large-scale arms race that is unfolding, pushing the world to the brink of conflict. Russia, of course, will take this aspect into account and adjust its actions in building a national security system. ”

“Our country is following with great concern the destructive steps of the United States. It is perplexing with what persistence worthy of better application, Washington is destroying international agreements, the absence of which can lead to a deepening crisis of mistrust, negatively affect world markets and the well-being of citizens, ”the parliamentarian said.
