“The signing of the so-called“ Steinmeier formula ”will move the Minsk peace process off the ground,” believes Sergei Zheleznyak, member of the State Duma’s Committee on Foreign Affairs.
According to the politician: “Repeated attempts to urge Kiev to implement the agreements reached in Minsk have so far been unsuccessful and, instead of influencing the leadership of Ukraine, the West is trying to unfoundedly accuse Russia of maintaining tension in the Donbas. If, as a result of the signing of the “Steinmeier formula”, a political settlement of the situation in the South-East of Ukraine begins, this will give an impetus to the resumption of dialogue within the “Norman format”.
In Russia, of course, they support any progress in terms of resolving the conflict in the Donbass. At the same time, it is important that all the signed points, including the special status of Donbass and the separation of forces, be executed in a hollow volume. First of all, this applies to Kiev, which has repeatedly signed various agreements, but did not bother to implement them. ”
