The State Duma called the baseless accusations of the US against Russia in violation of WTO rules, a REGNUM correspondent reported February 5.
“The US accusations against Russia of violating WTO rules are groundless and sound strange,” said Sergei Zheleznyak, a member of the Duma’s international affairs committee (United Russia).
The sanction regime initiated in the United States created the conditions for the active development of import substitution industries in Russia, which clearly irritates the West and ruins their destructive plans for the Russian economy, the parliamentarian said.
“What the United States calls” barriers to the export of American goods and services “is a strategy for the development of economic competitiveness and independence of our country,” said Zheleznyak.
Washington believes that there should be some special privileges for American goods, the deputy wonders.
“When the United States begins to lose ground, the methods of unfair competition, pressure and blackmail are used,” said the parliamentarian.
The United States accused Russia of systematic violations of World Trade Organization (WTO) regulations. This is stated in the report of the United States Trade Representative on Russia’s fulfillment of its WTO commitments.
