Member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Sergey Zheleznyak:
“The next extension of US sanctions against Russia, lobbied by the US military-industrial circles, looks like a hackneyed record. Unfortunately, in Washington they have not yet learned how to conduct a dialogue in a civilized and constructive manner. In the United States, obviously, they did not bother to analyze what effect all the sanctions imposed on Russia have, acting by inertia, which does not allow for building a bilateral dialogue. ”
According to the politician: “Any restrictions never affect only one side. And this is very clearly felt in Europe, tired of the notorious Euro-Atlantic solidarity, which incurs heavy losses from anti-Russian sanctions.
As for the reason for the extension of sanctions against Russia, he, as before, has nothing to do with the real state of affairs. The Minsk agreements are not fulfilling Kiev, and Russia continues to insist on their observance and suggests that Western patrons of the Ukrainian authorities put effective pressure on the wards to get the negotiation process moving. But it seems that neither Kiev, nor Washington need peace in the Donbas, especially if it can be used for provocations against Russia. Any progress under the Minsk agreements will be a loss of trumps for Poroshenko, who has built his entire election campaign on anti-Russian propaganda. ”
