Sergey Zheleznyak: “In European countries the hope of preserving peace and stability in the region is increasingly connected with Russia”

Member of the Committee on International Affairs Sergey Zheleznyak:

“The position of representatives of Germany and France was voiced amidst the calls of Washington to step up support for Ukraine by introducing new “efficient”anti-Russian sanctions, that were announced by the US State Department spokesman Heather Neuert. Such a dissonance between the United States and its traditional partners in the EU demonstrates the depth of contradictions in Washington’s relations with the leading countries of Europe”.

According to the deputy, there is a growing understanding among European countries that they have an extremely dangerous and unpredictable neighbor – Ukraine, capable of taking insane actions against common sense, ready to completely destroy the entire system of collective security.

“In this situation, in European countries the hope of preserving peace and stability in the region is increasingly connected with Russia, that is pursuing a responsible and balanced policy, despite provocations” – said the parliamentarian.
