The withdrawal of part of the American contingent from Germany will not affect the security of the leading European country. As a REGNUM correspondent reports on July 30, this was stated by a member of the State Duma International Affairs Committee Sergei Zheleznyak (United Russia).
“The example of German policy will be indicative and useful for other European countries. Although many European states strive for complete independence, they still look back at the United States, which is constantly coming up with new methods of blackmail and pressure. Getting rid of American influence, including in the military sphere, can, on the contrary, strengthen allied relations within Europe, rally countries and resolve existing contradictions, which Washington loves to play on, “Zheleznyak argues.
Earlier, the Pentagon officially announced the withdrawal of about 12 thousand American servicemen from Germany. At the same time, only 6.4 thousand servicemen should return to their homeland, and the rest will be relocated in Europe.
