Sergey Zheleznyak: “The Global Health Summit can raise a number of pressing problems that have become apparent against the backdrop of the pandemic and the unpreparedness of European countries for collective action”

“The Global Health Summit, announced by the head of the European Commission, can raise a number of pressing problems that have become apparent against the backdrop of the pandemic and the unpreparedness of European countries for collective action. Such a dialogue between countries is long overdue. ” This opinion was expressed by a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Sergei Zheleznyak.

According to the politician: “In a critical situation, European countries have failed to demonstrate the necessary unity to more effectively combat the spread of infection. Instead of consolidating efforts, the EU Partners displayed selfishness and disunity. The European Union obviously has a reason for a substantive discussion of health issues on the scale of the union. The main thing is that the announced summit does not become an empty formality that does not lead to a qualitative transformation of the European epidemiological security system.”
