Sergey Zheleznyak, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, called the statement of the former GRU Colonel Sergei Skripal that he initially could not believe that Russia was involved in the poisoning as a “cold shower” for British Prime Minister Theresa May and her supporters.
“The forced information of the British media that even Sergey Skripal himself does not believe in involvement in Russia poisoning, once again demonstrates how inaccurately the drama was concocted by the British special services,” thinks Sergey Zheleznyak.
The politician stressed that the British media can hardly be suspected of sympathy for Russia.
“That’s why the Skripal Files, published by Western reporters, will become a “wake-up call” for Mrs. May and her supporters. All the hype around Moscow’s hand in the Skripals case organized on Downing Street is a disgusting lie from the very beginning and is aimed solely at inciting anti-Russian sentiment in Western society, “he stressed.
The parliamentarian noted that it would be interesting to see the reaction to Skripal’s sensational statement from the leadership of Great Britain, “that is trying by all means to avoid disclosure and to maintain a high degree of anti-Russian hysteria, carefully concealing all the evidence of the provocation”.
