“The statement of the head of the European Commission on the political coloring of Nord Stream 2, as well as the resolution of the European Parliament on Navalny, are primarily the result of unprecedented pressure on Brussels
from Washington. ” This was stated by Sergey Zheleznyak, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.
“Until now, the United States has not abandoned its attempts to prevent the completion of the Russian-European gas project, using blackmail and involving various European countries in the anti-Russian campaign. European authorities such as Germany or Austria, which prioritize their national interests, have repeatedly criticized the illegal pressure on the energy project. Until now, Berlin had no doubts about the commercial nature of the Nord Stream 2 project and its economic benefits. The convulsive attempts of Russophobes to find a pretext for yet another attacks on Russia and the introduction of new sanctions turned out to be the incident with Navalny, whom they are trying to make a victim of the regime. One gets a clear impression of a provocation planned from outside with the use of the Russian oppositionist as a bargaining chip, ”the politician said.
According to Zheleznyak: “The reality is that sanctions and pressure on Russia from our opponents will continue in the coming years. And to maintain the degree of anti-Russian hysteria, Western propagandists will create
all new reasons, without bothering to find the evidence base.”
