Sergey Zheleznyak: “The United States has long sought to withdraw from the INF Treaty to finally untie its hands for the production of new missiles and their supplies”

The State Duma is not surprised by the appearance of information about the US intention to test missiles that were banned for more than 30 years by the Treaty on the Elimination of Medium and Short Range Missiles, a REGNUM correspondent reported March 14.

“The United States has long sought to withdraw from the INF Treaty to finally untie its hands for the production of new missiles and their supplies,” said Sergei Zheleznyak (United Russia), a member of the State Duma’s international affairs committee.

In his opinion, the United States openly demonstrates that they intend to continue the confrontation with Russia and try to contain the strengthening of our country, including by building up military power.

“With the active pressure of the military-industrial lobby, the leadership of Washington is clearly unnerving Russia’s successes in the field of military science and technology. On the redistribution of this market, the United States intends to spend considerable funds to try to regain its superiority. This confirms the aggressive nature of the US military budget for 2020, ”the parliamentarian said.

The Pentagon plans in 2019 to test two types of missiles, which are prohibited by the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles (INF).
