Sergey Zheleznyak: “The USA themselves sabotage the process of restoring the infrastructure of destroyed Syria”

The introduction of sanctions by the United States against Russia and Iran for the restoration of Syria will be self-exposure for America and will show the true goals pursued by this country in Syria, said Sergey Zheleznyak, member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.

Earlier, the American television channel NBC, citing sources, said that the administration of US President Donald Trump is developing a new strategy for action in Syria, which implies the imposition of sanctions against Russian and Iranian companies involved in the restoration of Syria. According to the channel, the strategy does not imply direct clashes with Tehran-controlled units, as the US military in Syria can attack Iranian forces only in the case of self-defense. Instead, the plan focuses on “political and diplomatic efforts to oust Iran’s armed forces from Syria” by exerting financial pressure.

“If the US imposes sanctions on companies involved in rebuilding Syria, it will be self-disclosing and demonstrating the true goals of the American mission in this country. The US itself sabotage the process of restoring the infrastructure destroyed by Syria and in every way impedes the participation of other countries in helping the Syrian people “, – quotes his iron press service.

According to the politician, the US intention once again proves that Washington is not interested in resolving the Syrian crisis and wants to maintain tension in the country for as long as possible. According to the parliamentarian, the European partners of the United States need to understand that, not wanting to assist the Syrians in restoring the destroyed infrastructure and establishing a normal life, they provoke the growth of the conflict, new waves of refugees to Europe and migration problems.

“The irresponsible and short-sighted policy of European officials will have an extremely negative impact on the socio-economic situation in European countries and directly affect the decline in European confidence in the authorities,” Zheleznyak said.
