Sergey Zheleznyak: “Volcker’s task is not to establish peace, but to maintain tension between Russia and Ukraine”

“The United States takes a destructive position with respect to Ukraine, constantly provoking a conflict of interests within the country and heating up the situation around Donbass.” So commented Sergei Zheleznyak, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, on a statement by US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Walker about readiness to consider the issue of non-recognition of Russian passports issued to residents of the DPR and LPR.

“The United States is pursuing a similar strategy with respect to the Russian Crimea, without ceasing to call the peninsula an annexed territory. Washington demonstrates the absence of a positive agenda and is clearly not interested in ending the conflict in the South-East of Ukraine as soon as possible, since the American side is not interested in the fate of Donbas residents.

Instead of convincing the new president of Ukraine to stop military actions against the people of Donbass and call for human rights, the United States intends to supply various types of weapons to Ukraine and support Kiev’s aggression.

For some reason, Mr. Volcker is also extremely worried about the humanitarian action of Russia, which offered citizenship to the residents of the DPR and the LPR. At the same time, the United States is well aware that our country does not violate international norms with its step, but they need some reason why Kiev can continue to ignore the Minsk agreements.

Once again, the US special representative proved that the mission of his mission was not to establish peace, but to maintain tensions between Russia and Ukraine, ”the politician noted.
