Sergey Zheleznyak: “Washington is trying to push the responsibility for maintaining tension around the Donbass in our country”

“The statement by national security adviser to the US President John Bolton about the hope of peace in the Donbas under the new head of Ukraine is puzzling. So far, Mr. Zelensky has not taken any constructive steps to resolve the situation in the South-East of Ukraine, and so far there is no hope for his readiness for direct negotiations with the Donbas. And against the backdrop of the intensification of attacks from the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on peaceful residents of Donbass, Washington’s fantasy sounds particularly implausible. It is characteristic that John Bolton makes such conclusions after a conversation with the special representative for Ukraine, which once again demonstrates Mr. Walker’s lack of understanding of the true state of affairs in the Donbas, which he does not personally attend. ” This opinion was expressed by a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Sergey Zheleznyak.

The politician stressed: “The next call from the United States to Russia“ to make a contribution and take a serious part ”in resolving the internal Ukrainian crisis can be seen as an attempt by Washington to look like peacekeepers and push responsibility for maintaining tension around the Donbass in our country. With the intention to allocate considerable budget funds for the supply of arms to Ukraine, voiced earlier in the United States, the words about a speedy peace in the Donbas and the hope of improving relations with Russia look like undisguised hypocrisy. ”
