Sergey Zheleznyak: “With the approach of voting day, the topic of Russia’s influence on political processes in the United States will only grow”

“The unvoiced accusations of the United States against our country about the alleged misinformation about the situation with the coronavirus have no grounds other than Russophobia, which American political circles use as a distraction before the presidential election. As expected, as the voting day approaches, the topic of Russia’s influence on political processes in the United States will only grow. ” This opinion was expressed by a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Sergei Zheleznyak.

According to the politician: “Russia has repeatedly stated at the highest level about the absurdity of the accusations that the United States is making against our country. There is no evidence of Russia’s involvement in fake news about the situation with the pandemic in the United States and cannot be. All the accusations sounding are a political order against our country, as well as an attempt to reduce the degree of dissatisfaction with the actions of the American authorities inside the country. At the same time, false information about the state of affairs with coronavirus in Russia is regularly disseminated in some Western media and social media, calling for the immediate forwarding of frightening messages that mislead Russians. The law enforcement system of our country promptly responds to such deliberate information attacks in accordance with the current legislation. ”

“The continuation of the war in the field of information, which Western Russophobes are waging against Russia, even amid the persistence of the global problem with the epidemic, is not surprising. The unsubstantiated accusations and outright lies of the United States are the very disinformation aimed at supporting the myth they have created about Russia as the center of aggression and global evil and at forming a negative attitude of Western citizens towards our country, ”the deputy stressed.
