Svetlana Zhurova: “Accounts created in social networks about protests in Paris can be a provocation”

First Deputy Chairman of the International Affairs Committee Svetlana Zhurova does not exclude: the information that Russia is allegedly linked to social network accounts that are suspected of spreading reports of protest actions in Paris may be a provocation. This deputy said in an interview with “Duma TV”.

“The most amazing thing is that when they talk about our tracks in the presidential elections in America, some accounts are created – where are they created, from whom? If Russian surnames, then immediately concluded that this is a Russian trace. But this may be a provocation, specially created accounts so that this trace will lead to Russia, ”said Svetlana Zhurova.

The parliamentarian said that so far everything connected with the reports of Russia’s involvement in the strikes in France seems like “absolute rumors” that “look rather strange”.

“Whatever happens in the world, what events, especially those related to protests or some moments that the authorities of this country do not like in one way or another, are looking for Russia in these aspects,” added Zhurova.

Earlier, The Times newspaper wrote that social networks had been created accounts allegedly associated with Russia, whose owners are suspected of spreading messages about protest actions in France. Also, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said that the General Secretariat for the Defense and National Security of France is conducting an investigation into the alleged involvement of the Russian Federation in protests in this country.

Recall that the head of the International Affairs Committee, Leonid Slutsky, expressed the hope that “statements about“ Russian intervention ”will become just a minor episode that will not affect the relations between Russia and France.
