Svetlana Zhurova called on Russians to be ready for checks at US airports

The situation with the interrogation of State Duma deputy Inga Yumasheva by the US special services is not standard – Russians should be prepared for serious checks at American airports, Svetlana Zhurova, first deputy chairman of the House’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, told the Parliamentary newspaper.

She recalled that on the eve of the coordinator of the parliamentary group of the State Duma on relations with Congress, Inga Yumasheva talked for about an hour with an FBI officer at the New York airport. Immediately upon arriving in the United States at the Fort Ross Dialogue Russian-American forum, the deputy was asked to answer “unclear and unacceptable questions,” after which they suggested continuing communication in an informal setting.

“The situation is not standard,” Zhurova said and admitted that she herself also had to answer polls of American officers. – There was a situation when officers met me at the plane and checked my documents for 20 minutes. In this regard, I can say that every Russian entering the United States should be ready for checks. ”

Earlier, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin called the situation with Yumasheva “cynical provocation.”

Zhurova also recalled that from September 30 to October 4, the autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe was held in Strasbourg, in which the Russian delegation took part.

“European colleagues want to include Russian experience in their reports. So, for example, the International Football Federation mentioned our country and spoke positively about our experience, ”the deputy noted. According to her, many European parliamentarians are happy about the return of the country’s delegation to PACE.

At the same time, in January 2020, the powers of the Russian delegation will again be put to the vote, the legislator added. “I understand that a number of delegates from different countries are interested in Russia as one of the leading countries finding its place in the assembly,” she said.
