Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Yuri Levitsky visited Dagestan State University.
The oldest higher educational institution of the republic was established in October 1931. Then it included 3 departments with ten full-time teachers who taught 75 students. Today the university is one of the leading universities in the North Caucasus. At its 17 faculties and 97 departments, specialists are trained at all levels of pre-university, university, postgraduate and additional education in a wide range of natural sciences, humanitarian, economic, technical specialties and areas.
This year the university is celebrating its 90th anniversary, so Yuri Levitsky, a graduate of the Faculty of Physics of DSU, took advantage of his next visit to Makhachkala to visit his native university. Recently, Dagestan State University and the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) signed a Cooperation Agreement, initiated and an active participant in the preparation of which was Yuri Levitsky.
The rector of the university Murtazali Rabadanov and the parliamentarian discussed the implementation of the agreement. During the meeting, the rector and the deputy noted with satisfaction that the head of the Republic of Dagestan Sergey Melikov supported the proposal to sign an agreement between Rossotrudnichestvo and the university, which will allow the university to significantly expand its international relations, more actively use the intellectual potential and experience of leading foreign universities, and improve the quality of training.
The State Duma deputy supported the creation of a Dagestan consortium of educational, scientific organizations and high-tech companies on the basis of Dagestan State University, as well as the participation of the university in the program of strategic academic leadership “Priority-2030”.
At the meeting, issues of preparation for the upcoming celebration of the university’s anniversary were discussed. Yuri Levitsky expressed his readiness to take an active part in the events related to this significant date. The rector of the university, Murtazali Rabadanov, noted that the parliamentarian keeps his promise, made during the previous visit, to help his native university, and wished him success in his parliamentary activities.
