A joint meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the State Duma with the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Turkish Parliament was held today.
During the meeting, the head of the Commission Volkan Bozkir noted that Turkey does not support the sanctions pressure on Russia and will not side with countries introducing restriction against the Russian Federation. “I sincerely and frankly want to emphasize that Turkey has not taken the side of those countries that have imposed sanctions on the Russian Federation and will not do it in the future. Friendship between Turkey and Russia is a real friendship, ”said the Turkish parliamentarian.
Bozkir also noted that at the present time the interstate partnership between Russia and Turkey is at a fairly high level. “I cite the example of Russian-Turkish relations with representatives of other foreign countries, saying that these are two countries that have fought so much among themselves, have experienced a difficult period of mutual relations. Their relationship is now on the rise, ”he concluded.
For his part, the head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Leonid Slutsky, said that Russian-Turkish cooperation could be an important factor for stabilizing the economies and national currencies of both countries: “We are in extremely close contact. We have significantly advanced infrastructure-related joint economic projects and now more than ever we can observe the most constructive phase of our relations. ”
