The visit to Belgrade is coming to an end, during which negotiations were held with President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, Speaker of the People’s Assembly (Parliament) Ivica Dačić and the head of the parliamentary committee for Kosovo and Metohija Milovan Dretsun (at the same time leads the Friendship Group with the State Duma).
All the meetings took place, as they say, in a friendly atmosphere and constructive. An invitation from the Chairman of the State Duma Viacheslav Volodin was conveyed to the Speaker of the Assembly to pay an official visit to Russia. We hope that it may take place in the coming months.
In addition, they discussed the preparations for the sixth meeting of the Russian-Serbian inter-parliamentary commission. It is planned to be held in Belgrade by the end of the year.
We also discussed the interaction of the delegations of Russia and Serbia at inter-parliamentary platforms, primarily in PACE, as well as bilateral cooperation in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. In the near future, as has already been announced, bottling and packaging will begin in Serbia, followed by the full-cycle production of the Russian Sputnik-V vaccine.
Separately, we discussed the idea of creating a Russian-Serbian Public Forum. I hope that parliamentarians of both countries will join this structure.
In general, we plan to build up close cooperation between the State Duma and the People’s Assembly. There is every reason and opportunity for this.
