Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky:
“At the summit in London in early December, NATO intends to raise the topic of the collapse of the INF Treaty in the context of justifying US actions to unilaterally withdraw from the treaty and blaming Russia for it. Destructive and false line in advance.
Rejecting the proposal of the Russian Federation to introduce a moratorium on the deployment of medium- and shorter-range missiles in Europe, the European countries of the Alliance are moving in Washington’s disastrous channel. Such steps pose a threat to our common continent. Discussing arms control is also, I think, necessary with all key players, including with the participation of Moscow. Otherwise, we risk creating a new missile crisis.
Russia does not conduct any aggressive actions on its part, and Secretary General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg recognized this today. However, this does not change the position of NATO, where they continue to intend to pursue a containment policy based on the rudiments of the Cold War.
