Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs:
“Russia will certainly respond to the sanctions of the European Union and Great Britain because of the incident with blogger Alexei Navalny. I am sure the answer will be more than adequate in a situation that the West has brought to the point of absurdity.
Russia does not accept unfounded accusations, is not going to make excuses, and does not intend to be led by outright fakes and provocations.
Once again I want to note that I share the healthy pessimism of the Russian Foreign Minister regarding the prospects for further development of cooperation with EU institutions in the light of recent decisions. Common sense and constructiveness, unfortunately, fell victim to a politicized approach and anti-Russian hysteria.”
