The Chairman of the Committee Leonid Slutsky:
Within the framework of the G20 parliamentary forum and meeting of speakers the Russian delegation actively takes part in discussions on creating, or rather re-creating of the parliamentary dimension of the G20. We believe that this issue is long overdue. The G20 solutions need to be implemented into national legislation, as well as their implementation is to be under control.
All this creates real prerequisites for a parliamentary dimension of this bloc. This format may become one of the main formats being formed in the 21st century parliamentary architecture. And Russia intends to take the most active part in it.
I am confident that in the coming years, the parliamentary dimension of the G20 will be finally formed and will turn, perhaps, into a Parliamentary Assembly or a permanently functioning parliamentary forum with its own committees. Thus, we can talk about the prospects for a new authoritative inter-parliamentary organization that will have a very weighty influence and will take an undoubtedly significant role in the world.
