Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, on the “60 Minutes” program on Russia-1 TV channel, commented on the speech of the head of the European Council Donald Tusk in the Verkhovna Rada:
“This is a perfect apotheosis of anti-Russian rhetoric and disregard of historical memory. Donald Tusk, the former Prime Minister of Poland and the current head of the European Council, says that only those who love and respect Ukraine can be European. Tusk ended his speech with the words” Glory to Ukraine “, that is, the slogan of the nationalist UPA, with which Bandera killed his ancestors during the Second World War – henchmen of the Nazi Nazis.
The situation is absolutely blatant. This is completely against common sense, it is, in fact, the betrayal of their own country, which also suffered from the hands of Ukrainian nationalists. We understand that this is induced from the West. The largest EU politicians are trying to do everything possible to raise Poroshenko’s rating before the presidential elections in Ukraine. And for this they are doing everything to marginalize and demonize the image of Russia, even sacrificing their own historical justice.”
