Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, defined possible topics for the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to France that may take place in November this year.
“Themes to be discussed during the visit of our President may be very diverse – from the permanently flaring situation in Ukraine to cooperation on humanitarian and economic projects.
Nevertheless, I think that it won’t go without situation in Syria and serious improvement of the French-Russian relations. The main thing is that it is no longer about any kind of isolation,” – the head of the international committee noted.
Leonid Slutsky added that French President Emmanuel Macron like other European leaders will seek to improve relations with Russia, spoiled in recent years.
“Current US policy has sobered the countries of Old Europe that were under Washington’s thumb. Today they begin to understand that the United States neither is not only unableto guarantee their economic and military-political security, but itsbully politics provokes escalation of the conflict. Therefore such a meeting could be a great step towards bringing Paris and Moscow closer”the parliamentarian added.
Earlier it was reported that Vladimir Putin mightvisit Paris to celebrate the First World Warcentenary.
