A delegation of French politicians headed by Thierry Mariani will again visit Crimea and take part in celebrations to mark the 5th anniversary of the annexation of the peninsula to Russia, the chairman of the Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky said.
The visit will take place from March 13-16. The deputy reminded that the president of the Association “Franco-Russian Dialogue” Thierry Mariani headed the delegations of French politicians who visited the Crimea in 2015 and 2016.
“Thanks to these trips, Europe learned that the Crimea and Sevastopol returned to their native harbor – to Russia – on the goodwill of the Crimeans themselves. Then many of these politicians lost the mandates of the deputies of the National Assembly of France, but this did not stop calling white white and black black without changing their common sense, ”his press service quoted Slutsky.
The delegation includes honorary members of the French parliament, former and current deputies of the National Assembly, representatives of the French municipal authorities. During the visit, they will hold meetings with the leadership of the Republic of Crimea and members of the Youth Parliament of the peninsula, will visit the French military cemetery and the cultural center “Alliance Française”.
Crimea joined Russia in 2014 after the overwhelming majority of Crimeans and Sevastopol residents voted for reunification with the Russian Federation in a referendum.
