Leonid Slutsky: “Iran’s recognition of an unintentional human error is a strong deed”

Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky:

“Iran’s recognition of an unintentional human error that led to the collapse of the Ukrainian Boeing is a strong deed. Despite the tragedy of the incident and the likelihood of political speculation, Tehran did not play games and somehow try to maneuver, but honestly and openly declared its responsibility and deep regret in connection with the disaster.

Despite the tense situation around Iran, the country’s leadership took the only right step. I am sure that Tehran will continue to do everything possible to resolve the consequences of this terrible tragedy and find the necessary solution for this with Kiev.

There is one more aspect. In recent years, Washington has exposed Tehran as a deceitful and destructive regime. By its deed, Iran breaks down such biased assessments and proves that it is one of the leaders in the region. Moreover, the root cause of all is the aggressive US policy.

And I would also like to answer Ukrainian politicians who are trying to discern a Russian footprint in the Boeing 737 disaster. This is complete nonsense. Mr. Turchinov and the rest, you should be ashamed! We grieve with the peoples of Ukraine and Iran. The most sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims.”
