Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky commented the murder of Alexander Zakharchenko:
“It is obvious that the Ukrainian authorities are behind the murder. This is a vile, cynical crime. Kiev uses the dirtiest methods to intimidate the population of Donbass, to break it down, without fulfilling any of its political obligations to normalize the situation. This regime came to power over corpses of its own citizens and continues to rule on the blood.
The murder of Zakharchenko is also on conscience of the Western mentors of Kiev. It is with their tacit consent that the Ukrainian authorities commit all their criminal deeds. This act of terrorism is at hand only for those who oppose peaceful resolution of the conflict in the South-East of Ukraine.
I knew Zakharchenko personally very well, we were in close contact until the last days. He had great authority in the Republic. I am sure that Alexander’s noble work to protect the inhabitants of Donbass will continue. Cherished memory of him!”
