“Slutsky noted that the visit in the context of the coronavirus is due to the level of relations between the two countries and the need to [discuss] important issues,” the statement said.

During the talks, Tehran and Moscow agreed to update the agreement signed in 2001 on the foundations and principles of cooperation between the countries during Mohammad Javad Zarif’s visit to Russia.
In addition, Slutsky and Zarif discussed the situation in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Libya.
On August 1, the head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs held talks with the Chairman of the Parliament (Mejlis) of Iran, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. The parliamentarian gave the Speaker of the Mejlis samples of Russian medical equipment, including complexes for diagnosing coronavirus infection.
