Russia and Hungary to create Inter-Parliamentary Commission

Such proposal was announced by the Chairman of the State Duma Viacheslav Volodin at the meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary László Kövér. The agreement on the establishment of the Commission will be signed during the visit of the Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament to Russia.

Issues of economic, social, humanitarian and cultural cooperation are expected to be discussed within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission.

“Relations between our countries are developing dynamically thanks to the leaders of our states. The trade between Russia and Hungary in 2018 increased by 30%,” stressed Viacheslav Volodin.

He emphasized that the State Duma and the National Assembly of Hungary should develop relations between relevant committees. The Chairman of the State Duma noted that the State Duma has already settled the issue of establishment of inter-parliamentary commissions with a number of parliaments of European countries, including Germany, Serbia and France.

Viacheslav Volodin proposed to establish such a commission between the State Duma and the National Assembly for enhanced cooperation between Russia and Hungary at the inter-parliamentary level.

“It would be possible totake this path, which has already been proven to work with other countries, and it will lead us to the establishment of a bilateral inter-parliamentary commission,” said Viacheslav Volodin.

László Kövér supported this idea and also accepted the invitation to visit Russia and to sign the agreement on the creation of the Commission during the visit.

The Deputy Speakers of the State Duma and the National Assembly of Hungary were instructed to work on the initiative.
