Deputies of the State Duma headed by Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin took part in a solemn meeting in connection with the fifth anniversary of the reunification of the peninsula with Russia.
On the square in front of the government of the republic deployed the flag of the country. Flowers were carried to the monument to “Polite People”. “Crimea, Russia – forever!” – Crimeans chanted.
More than forty deputies who on the eve arrived from Moscow to Simferopol took part in solemn events, including the procession. Among them are the leaders of all parliamentary factions.
Before the rally, Vyacheslav Volodin, the head of Crimea Sergey Aksenov and the chairman of the State Council of the Republic Vladimir Konstantinov laid flowers and wreaths at the monument to the People’s Militia of All Time, opened in 2016.
“We passed a difficult path, but would repeat the same thing again if it were needed,” Sergei Aksenov gave a start to a rally in the square near the government. – All 25 years of the annexation of Crimea by Ukraine to our region were treated as a foster child, they only thought about how to arrange their land near the sea, but did not think about improving people’s lives.
He stressed that the attention of federal authorities and especially the President of the Russian Federation allow Crimeans to live under a peaceful sky.
Vyacheslav Volodin in his speech stated that the reunification of the Crimea with Russia was an important factor for the country’s unity of the society.
“Crimea five years ago became a symbol of national unity. Crimea united both left and right,” he said. “Crimea united and united our country, the whole civil society.” The parliamentarian expressed confidence that the Russians will forever keep the memory of the events of five years ago and will never allow the people to be separated.
“Five years ago, one people reunited with one history, one faith, one culture, one country — our Russia,” the State Duma chairman added.
Speaking about changes in five years, he drew attention to the fact that “hospitals, schools, the Crimean bridge were built.” The shortage of electricity was eliminated on the peninsula, which “makes it possible to live fully today, given that those who did not want this peaceful life did everything so that problems would arise.”
“But we managed to overcome these difficulties and difficulties together,” the speaker said.
The heads of the factions also spoke at the rally. In particular, Sergei Mironov (“Fair Russia”) caused a storm of applause, proposing to do March 16 – the day of the referendum on the reunification of the Crimea with Russia – a national holiday and a day off in the Russian Federation. The politician promised to submit to the State Duma a corresponding legislative initiative.
At the rally, and the president of the association “Franco-Russian dialogue” Thierry Mariani. Recall that he heads the French delegation, which arrived in Crimea with the third visit.
“Five years ago you took your destiny in your hands.” As a result of the referendum, you chose your fate, decided to return to your native harbor! – He said to residents of the Crimea.
Mariani recalled that in 2015, French politicians became the first foreign delegation that arrived in Crimea after its reunification with the Russian Federation. The visit took place thanks to the head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky.
“Then we saw with our own eyes how happy you were to return to Russia,” said the head of the French delegation in this connection. – Sometimes it happens that people understand each other faster than governments.
The last phrase is a friend to Russia, the politician spoke already in Russian. “Crimea is Russia, we see how Crimea has changed, how it lives! We wish well-being to all residents of Crimea!” – Mariani demonstrated the knowledge of “great and mighty.”
After the meeting, joint meetings of the Council of the Duma with the State Council of Crimea and the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol will be held in Simferopol and Sevastopol. These events are also timed to the fifth anniversary of the “Crimean Spring”.
