Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Leonid Slutsky met with the new Ambassador of the French Republic to Russia, Pierre Levy.
As the head of the Committee wrote on his page on the social network Facebook:
“We discussed a wide range of issues relating, first of all, to bilateral interaction in the parliamentary plane. The importance of resuming the work of the Great Russian-French Inter-Parliamentary Commission was emphasized. Perhaps her meeting after a five-year break will take place this year. In general, we talked about the need for serious and accelerated intensification of contacts across the entire spectrum of areas of work of the State Duma and the French National Assembly.
Within the framework of the international agenda, we discussed the situation in Syria and Libya, and also agreed on further close cooperation.
Mr. Pierre Levy is a professional with a capital letter, a career diplomat with vast experience. I am sure that we will continue constructive cooperation.”
