The King of Bahrain, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, on Tuesday received in Manama a delegation of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (RANS), which awarded him an honorary medal for his contribution to the development of science and technology, and also noted the role of the monarch in strengthening Russian-Bahraini relations. This was reported by Tass at the embassy of Bahrain in Moscow.
The delegation was headed by the Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences Isaak Geikhman, and the professor, doctor of medical sciences Elena Svechnikova took part in the event. In addition, the ceremony was attended by the head of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group of Russia and Baykhreyna Rasul Botashev, as well as the Ambassador of Bahrain to the Russian Federation Ahmed Al-Saati.
“The King was awarded the Academy Medal of Honor, which is one of the most prestigious scientific awards,” – noted in the diplomatic mission. The monarch drew attention to the “strong friendly relations between the two countries and the focus on the development of cooperation in various fields, especially scientific and academic.”
“His Highness stressed the role of Russian President Vladimir Putin in strengthening long-standing bilateral relations based on mutual respect while coordinating on the world stage,” the embassy said, adding that the king wished Russia and its citizens progress and prosperity.
