Moscow hopes that the Syrian opposition will contribute to the speedy development of the Constitutional Committee, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a meeting with Nasr al-Hariri, head of the oppositional Syrian High Negotiations Committee, on Tuesday.
“We value your intention to find ways out. We expect you and other representatives for the Syrian opposition to support the speedy development of the Constitutional Committee,” the minister said.
“We expect responsible opposition members to speak in favor of assistance by the global community to the Syrians not just in the form of humanitarian help, but by creating basic conditions – water supply, electric power supply and educational and medical services, which would make it possible for the refugees and displaced persons to return to their homes,” Lavrov stressed.
He reported that these issues were discussed during his meetings in Riyadh with his Saudi counterparts. “We reached understanding on all major issues,” the Russian foreign minister stressed.
