Our countries are interested in strengthening relations between Moscow and Rome, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte believes. He said this after the completion of negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin website reports.
According to him, today bilateral cooperation is at a high level, despite the fact that it is complicated by the restrictions imposed by Europe against Russia.
The Head of Government recalled that Russia ranked fifth among the partners of Italian exports. He also praised the interaction in the field of science and culture. The cooperation between higher educational institutions of both countries is going fast. In addition, many Russians are interested in learning Italian. It is taught in fifty schools, in universities and many language centers.
The head of the Italian government is convinced that Russia has a fundamental role in responding to the challenges that both Europe and Russia are facing today.
In turn, the Russian leader called the negotiations businesslike and constructive. He also stressed that he had a detailed conversation with his colleague Sergio Mattarella.
Vladimir Putin pointed out that Russia and Italy established interaction between the governments, parliaments, business and public circles. Bilateral communications in the field of high technologies are expanding.
No less important are cultural and humanitarian contacts. Russia assisted in the restoration of the city of Aquila after the devastating earthquake of 2009. In the fall, Italy will be represented at the International Cultural Forum in St. Petersburg.
Contacts are being established between the Hermitage and Venice. The work of the Hermitage-Italy scientific and cultural center is developing.
Italy has become one of the favorite tourist destinations for Russians. Last year more than a million Russian citizens visited it. The number of Italians traveling to Russia is growing.
