Alexei Chepa: Macron’s victory in French elections was expected

The victory of the current leader of the republic, Emmanuel Macron, in the presidential elections in France was expected, said Alexei Chepa, First Deputy Head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, RIA Novosti reported on April 24.

“We should have expected Macron to win. The latest results data confirms that he wins by a large margin,” Chepa said.

According to him, Macron has great ambitions to become the main European leader.

Recall, according to exit polls, Macron is gaining 57.6% of the vote in the second round. His opponent, Marine Le Pen, leader of the far-right National Rally party, gained 42.4%.

At the same time, for the far-right party, the National Association won a lot of votes. In 2017, Macron also made it to the second round with Le Pen, but then he had 66.1% of the vote, and she had 33.9%.
