First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, member of the A Just Russia – For Truth faction Alexei Chepa commented on the debate between US President Joe Biden and former US leader Donald Trump, which took place in the CNN studio.
The deputy said that the behavior of the candidates was embarrassing to watch. He noted the fact that the politicians did not shake hands and began to insult each other from the first minutes.
I have been observing elections in the United States of America for many years. A country that imposes on the whole world what a model of democracy should be, what all countries should strive for and what they should comply with. I can say that every time we see a picture where the so-called example of democracy is sliding down and teaching lessons that a normal person is sometimes ashamed to observe. This meeting began without a handshake, the candidates did not shake hands with each other and after a few minutes began to insult each other. This happened on one of the largest information platforms – CNN. This is the mouthpiece of the Democratic Party, and they did everything to make it more comfortable for Biden to speak on this platform. Unfortunately, what we saw, these insults… For a normal, well-mannered person, this is uncomfortable and embarrassing to watch. Moreover, two elderly people spoke. Baden’s behavior during the debate, according to the deputy, deserves special attention. Chepa noted that the American leader is already an “old man,” so his hesitation during his speech can be understood.
My main conclusion is that America, with its election campaign, with its democracy, is no longer sliding, but is flying into the abyss. I understand that in any case, age must be respected. But what the entire US governance system is built on raises a huge, huge number of questions. When the Democrats put up an old man… I’m not talking now about my attitude towards Biden as a person who made many political mistakes, which led to numerous victims in the world. I’m talking about an elderly person who gets confused, who stumbles, who sometimes seems to be losing the logic and meaning of his speech, of what he wants to say. This man is very dangerous. This is a man with a nuclear briefcase next to him. A person who makes certain decisions. It is clear that he no longer makes all decisions personally, but nevertheless, this is all very dangerous,
added the deputy.
In his opinion, this is dangerous for the world, “dangerous for those who are building a dollar empire, who are trying to create a golden billion, who are building the policy of the future that the United States is guided by today.”
