Alexey Chepa: Germany does not want to supply long-range weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Germany does not want to transfer long-range weapons to Ukraine because of the high risks of an escalation of the military conflict between Moscow and Kyiv. Aleksey Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, shared a similar opinion.

“The initial position was that the Germans did not want to supply any heavy weapons, but now they are supplying these weapons more and more heavily. They are well aware that the situation is getting worse. If these weapons are used against Russia, there is a more serious threat to unleash this conflict on the fields of Europe,” the deputy responded.

Prior to this, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that he did not want the weapons supplied by Berlin to Kyiv to be used for strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation. This is how he explained why Germany does not send long-range Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. At the same time, before that, Ukraine requested similar missiles from Germany.
