Alexey Chepa made a proposal to close Russian borders to European Union countries, which have introduced a ban on the entry of cars with Russian registration. In an interview with Lenta.ru, the deputy emphasized that this possible solution should be accompanied by other economic steps.
Economic measures include increasing tariffs on products shipped from these countries, but this could have an impact on Russian businessmen, who will be forced to look for alternative markets.
Poland, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia have already introduced restrictions on the entry of Russian cars into their territories. These measures apply to all European Union member countries bordering Russia.
In addition to restrictions on cars, the European Commission has also tightened sanctions rules against Russia, including a ban on the import of smartphones, clothing and personal care products. EU customs authorities recommended focusing on transport and making informed decisions regarding other goods.
These actions call into question the future of trade and economic relations between Russia and the European Union, and Russia is actively discussing possible steps in response to this situation.
